- This publication-based dissertation explores the relationships among narcissism, mental well-being, and entrepreneurial decision-making in the context of startup entrepreneurs. It comprises seven chapters, starting with an introduction to the importance of motivation in entrepreneurial decision-making. The second chapter summarises the research papers relevant to the dissertation. The third chapter provides a literature review of previous research on motivation, narcissism, and mental well-being in entrepreneurship. The fourth presents an empirical view of the role of narcissism in funding success, an important metric for growth-driven startup companies. We are particularly interested in the interplay of gender factors. Our results are based on a study of 590 surveyed entrepreneurs. The fifth chapter focuses on the key relationships a founder faces. These include relationships with co-founders and investors. As we will elaborate, these relationships substantially impact the mental well-being of the founder. 295 participated in this second study. In the sixth chapter, we will elaborate on our novel methodology that incorporates artificial intelligence in the literature review. The seventh and final chapter summarises the study's findings, contributions, and limitations and suggests potential areas for future research. dissertation sheds light on the importance of motivational factors and mental well-being in the decision-making capabilities of startup entrepreneurs. Although these two factors are highly relevant in practice, they have been underutilised and insufficiently researched.
