- Resilience is increasingly recognized as a vital capability for entrepreneurial organizations to navigate volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments. However, existing research on resilience-building remains conceptually fragmented and empirically underdeveloped, often limited to isolated organizational levels. This cumulative dissertation adopts a multi-level perspective to examine how entrepreneurial organizations develop and enact resilience across strategic, organizational, operational, and individual domains. It comprises five interrelated studies situated in diverse organizational contexts—including corporates, family businesses, humanitarian organizations, and start-ups. The first study synthesizes six foundational dynamic capabilities through a systematic literature review, revealing how corporates foster resilience via strategic change. The second identifies recurrent organizational patterns that enable family businesses to withstand and adapt to consecutive crises. The third provides transferable insights for entrepreneurial organizations by exploring the antecedents of social-ecological resilience in humanitarian supply chains, emphasizing local engagement and adaptive resource use. The fourth investigates how corporate entrepreneurs leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to manage uncertainty, developing a framework that integrates AI with entrepreneurial decision-making logics. The fifth applies necessary condition analysis to determine the indispensable factors enabling start-up resilience across ecosystem, organizational, and individual levels. Collectively, these studies offer a comprehensive and integrative understanding of resilience-building in entrepreneurial organizations. The findings contribute to strategic entrepreneurship literature and inform managerial and policy practices aimed at fostering resilience-building in entrepreneurial organizations amid increasingly VUCA business environments.
